Musically, it's her most upbeat album in years, full of anthems and bluesy funk, as well as the now-classic folk rock that was her trademark in the early 1970s. Lyrically, she juxtaposes vulnerability with a ferocity of spirit. "In a way, I'm a very private person," Simon admitted to bn.com's Douglas Clegg, "but I don't think there's very much that I couldn't disclose about myself or that I'd be ashamed of."
